Whitstable Town U18 3 Folkestone Invicta U18 0
Express Kent Youth League Premier Division 1
Sunday 24th February 2013
After two recent strong displays in the Lucas Fettes and Kent County Cup Competitions, our 18’s played hosts to Folkestone Invicta. From the start, Town were determined to take the game to Folkestone attacking down both flanks through Tom Bines and Sam Hudson, this leading to their opening goal inside 10 minutes with a nice run and slotted finish from Lewis King. The possession for the next 20 minutes went to Folkestone but they failed to find a way through with a strong midfield performance from Kari Creed and Charlie Thompson keeping them at bay. Town’s second goal came five minutes before half time with Sam Hudson picking up the ball and striking at goal from 25 yards, lobbing the Keeper and finding the bottom corner. With a minute to go Harry Barrow came to Towns aid making a fine save tipping a Folkestone header around the post.
The second half continued with Town keeping possession with Elliot Bensted and Callum Reynolds marshalling Whitstable’s defence both looking very comfortable. Folkestone’s only real chance of the half came when the Whitstable Keeper miss-kicked a bobbling ball which nearly ended up in his own net from a back pass. Town created several chances and on 75 minutes Lewis King struck at goal from 20 yards, the ball rebounded off the cross bar to Luke Foster who calmly finished from six yards. Whitstable played the rest of the half out well and deserved their 3-0 victory, ensuring a vital three points.
