Whitstable Town Under 21’s 2

Thamesmead Under 21’s 0

Pre=season Friendly

Saturday 16th August 2014

The third and penultimate pre-season game of the season versus Thamesmead for the u21 squad a game we expected to be tough. Our team is nearing the completion of preseason preparation and although several key players were missing due to work commitments and holidays we had a boost in the playing staff with Simon Pettit and Ryan Golding playing for us adding some experience and quality. The mixture of youth, experience and hardworking players certainly showed as we dominated the play throughout the game limiting Thamesmead to long distance shots, on occasion we had some pressure brought on by careless passes but we quickly closed any areas of danger and overall had a good performance. Ryan Golding got both goals in the 2-0 win although he could have had a hat trick narrowly missing two further chances. Simon Pettit and Jamie Frewn both missed good opportunities to score as well after excellent build up play opening up the Thamesmead defence. The team is growing in confidence and I expect to see a faster more precise game developing as we begin to understand both the system and style of play and also each other. Overall a good performance with many more positives than negatives our next game is on Thursday versus Corinthian
