Whitstable Under 21’s 3 Margate 0

Ryman Under 21 League (South)

With a new change of management team the Under 21′,s went into a game that on paper was going to be very difficult.  Margate have brought in players from the  Chelsea academy at Canterbury so this was going to be a real test for the 21s.

Whitstable had one regular first team squad member in the side and started the best. Jack Simon and Dan Keyte looked comfortable in midfield. After only three minutes Simon broke up a Margate attack and took the ball into the middle of the pitch and then played a diagonal into the path of Josh Smith ,who coolly placed the ball into the corner of the Margate net.

Within ten minutes, Margate’s defence was again under pressure so much so that they were forced to head the ball into their own net. The pressure continued with Margate getting more physical. Then the final goal of the half and the match came from the penalty spot which Sam Hallett managed to convert.

Whitstable continued to apply the pressure in the second half so much so that they could confidently make three changes. Margate did apply some late pressure but could not break down the Whitstable defence. The game finished with a three nil score line to the hosts. Special thanks should go to Mobolaji Dawodo who played the whole game in goal, having only to make a few saves and to the supporters that came along and cheered on the teenagers to a good victory.

Team: Dawado, Ellett, Heffernan, Brown, Lawrence, MacKenzie (Guila), Smith, Keyte, Bungura (Raggett), Simon (Lee), Hallett
