Lewes U21s 3 Whitstable Town U21s 2

Ryman League Under 21 (South)

Wednesday 10th September 2014

The Under 21s made the difficult trip to Lewes on Wednesday night and were beaten 3-2 in a tough game.

Town, supported by a number of parents and our “Supporters Club” Peacehaven Branch fought hard in the first half but found themselves one down five minutes before the interval. Lewes were a strong side who played some neat football and provided Town a strong test.

Lewes continued on the front foot in the second period but it was Town who equalised midway through the as Matty Guila who put in a strong shift and must be knocking on the first team door put in a cross which was converted by Joe Lester.  Town were soon behind again as a defensive mistake allowed Lewes to score their second. Town were soon 3-1 down but Joe Lester who, despite carrying an injury looked dangerous throughout, got a consolation five minutes from time.

Other players who stood out included Andy McGinty who looked quick and skilful down the left hand side and Tino Mukura whose work rate stood out.
