Crawley Down Gatwick 1 Whitstable Town 8

Ryman League Under 21 (South)

Monday 28th April 2014

Scorers: Lester (3), George (2), Brown, Munn, Achong.

Monday evening saw the highly successful U21s demolish Crawley Down Gatwick 8 – 1.

Ollie Brown opened the scoring with a fortunate goal but given his perseverance well deserved; Joe Lester scored his first of three with one in the first half before two second half goals & Curtis George whom was returning through illness also netted two (one either side of the HT whistle) and Jez Achong proved too strong scoring before the break. The Away defence gave away a disappointing penalty which CDG scored from after a handball. Ollie Brown gave way to Mattie Guila. HT saw the score at a well deserved 4-1 to the visitors.

James Etherington provided inspired leadership with a calming controlled captaincy of a young & impressive 21 Team.

With the second half underway, Joe Lester made an impressive start netting his second & third goals after some real skill & determination especially after going down injured only moment before his third. Steven Munn replaced Jez Achong and immediately made an impact with a superb driving strike which left the keeper with no chance and ended the game 8-1 to the visiting Town side who now host Maidstone United on Thursday evening at The Belmont kick off 7.45pm.
