The game started well for the visitors as Tom Loynes had the first attempt on ten minutes but his shot was easily saved by Kieran Campbell. Four minutes later Aaron James rose above the South Park defence to head over. South Park had to wait until the 21st minute for their first chance when Kieran Lavery hit a long range shot high over the bar. However Town continued to have the best of the chances as on 23 minutes Loynes flicked on a Peter
Wedgeworth cross but Campbell again saved . The home keeper was back in the action on 28 minutes when Loynes put in Ian Pulman. Campbell was on hand to save the Town attempt. A minute later at the other end, Chris Smith hit a shot that Luke Watkins did well to hold at full stretch. Scott Heard then had two chances as he firstly after 37 minutes shot straight at keeper Campbell and then on 43 minutes his attempt went wide of the target.
Despite Whitstable having the better of the first half, South Park took the lead on 50 minutes when Smith from the middle of the penalty area chipped the ball over Watkins. Town however nearly drew level on 52 minutes when Kane Rowland put in Luke Girt who fired over the bar. Four minutes later South Park’s Jack Stafford had a shot tipped over the bar by Watkins. Town continued to press for an equalising goal as Heard shot wide ten minutes from then end. Town were to pull level on 89 minutes when Ian Pulman was brought down. The Town striker got up and fired the penalty into the corner of the net. However, Town seemed to go to sleep from the kick off as Lavery surged through to put the ball past Watkins to given the hosts all three points. One more incident before the end as Stafford made a reckless challenge and had a second yellow card to bring South Park down to nine men.
It was a disappointing afternoon for the Town as they had the best of the possession and chances but failed to come away with anything.
