Whitstable Town 0 Walton Casuals 8
Ryman Football League Division One (South)
Saturday 17th October 2015
Whitstable suffered a spectacularly embarrassing collapse in the second half as they concede seven goals in the last 45 minutes to add to the one scored in the first half to lose 8-0 at home to Walton Casuals.
Whitstable who were still on high after the excellent result on Wednesday but were on the back foot in the first half with a number of chancing falling for the visitors. A number of attempts were off target but Casuals got their reward after 34 minutes when Gabriel Odunaire pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area and fired home. Whitstable did create some chances but really didn’t threaten.
The second half started badly as after 51 minutes Luke Medley got on the end of a corner and fired the ball home. Whitstable striker Charlie Smith was sent off just after the goal for violent conduct. Things got worse for Whitstable on 58 minutes when a cross from Paul Rhys was half saved by Whitstable keeper Adam Highsted. It was four after 67 minutes when Tom Day fired home with the Whitstable defence all at sea. Town completely collapsed in the last ten minutes as two goals Tom Collins and another one from Medley and Odunaire the sealed the humiliation.
It is hard to understand how a side can play so well on the Wednesday and so poorly on the Saturday. Town will need to recover quickly before their game at home to Hythe Town on Tuesday evening.
