Whitstable Town U18s 0 v Fisher Athletic U18s 8

Kent Youth League Premier Divison

9th September 2012

Whitstable Town U18s took on Fisher Athletic U18s today at The Belmont and found their opponents in top form. In what was a very hot day, Whitstable started the game on the back foot and were unable to contain the Fisher frontline.  It was no surprise that Fisher scored their first goal in the first 10 minutes with the Whitstable defence unable to clear the ball presenting Fisher with an easy tap-in.  Unfortunately, this continued through the first half allowing Fisher to score another 3 goals one from a free kick from outside the box making the half time score 4-0, with Whitstable struggling to retain possession and create any real chances.

Whitstable clearly had to regroup at half time, and made some changes with the second half starting much brighter for them.  They were able to retain more possession and created two or three half chances.  But against the run of play Fisher again broke and finished off a neat passing attack which put them 5 up.  Whitstable tried to respond, hitting the crossbar, but it was too little too late.  They had struggled to contain the Fisher attack being lightning fast and as the game petered out conceded another 3 poor goals.  Overall, the scoreline flattered the visitors though their victory was well deserved.

Today was a bad day at the office, one that the team need to put behind them quickly and look forward to the next match.
