Speaking to Nicky Southall this afternoon he has provided me with some updates on what has been happening in his first week as the new Whitstable Town manager.  He explained that he has made an addition to his coaching staff with Micheal Everitt stepping up to become the first team player coach. Local lad, James Morrish, who won man of the match last Saturday, has stepped up to become first team captain.

He has also made some new signings in the shape of left back, James Brown who has returned to the Belmont following a period playing in Spanish football for Racing Portuense. We will have to await international clearance for him to take his place back in the first team.

Striker, Danny Williams is another returnee to the Belmont following a spell at Herne Bay where he played 16 times scoring 2 goals.  Also joining is Dan Hanshaw, a player who is described by Nicky as a raw talent. He joins from local league football and looks like a good prospect for the future.

Two of the successful reserves team have also signed Ryman forms. They are Dan Delaney and Dan Ellett (the latter made his debut for the first team earlier in the season in the Kent Senior Cup).

The last player to sign is goalkeeper Harry Barrow who has come up through the ranks of the Whitstable Town Junior Football club and into our under 18’s team.  He will provide cover for Nick Shaw and Rob French and will travel with the squad to Crawley Down Gatwick.  Nicky explained he was searching to bring in more talent to add to the squad.

Nicky went on to say that the first team have been working hard this week in training in preparation for Saturday’s game. Jake Beecroft is close to a return from injury but will have to have a fitness test before he can come back into the side.
