Whitstable Town Reserves 3  VCD Athletic Reserves 0

Whitstable Town Reserves went into the game trying to keep up with the teams at the top (Phoenix Sports & Chatham Town). The game started well with Town keeping the pressure on VCD. Both sides were intent on playing good football and on 22 minutes Town drew first blood when Reardon found himself in the opposition penalty area and scored with an excellent header. The one-nil half time score line was a fair reflection of the first period half.

The second half started with Town missing a penalty after 47 minutes but on the hour Collis scored Whitstable’s 2nd goal. Town finally sealed the victory on 77 minutes when Bola slid the ball into an empty net after the Town forward had rounded the goalie. Whitstable continued to press for the fourth with the home keeper a virtual spectator for the second half. It wasn’t to come but Whitstable had still achieved a convincing 3 – 0 win

Lee Craddock, the reserve team assistant manager, said after the game. “We have a brand new side and it’s nice to see us keep up with the stronger teams around us.”
