Holmesdale Reserves 1 Whitstable Town Reserves 1

Hurlimann Kent Football League Division One
Town travelled into the heart of Bromley to play a very good side Holmesdale. With all the change around at Holmesdale, it was no surprise that four first time players turned up on the match sheet. With Town under strength again through holidays, work commitments and first team call ups, again Town fielded several under 18’ and with our regular midfielders with the first team, it was going to be a good game.
In fairness to both sides the game was played at a fast pace with both sides attacking and trying to play their best football. It was Holmesdale who broke the deadlock when Town’s two central defenders went to sleep allowing the very talented forward to run on to score. Chance after chance then went begging for Town. However, Town drew level on 35 minutes with a well taken goal from Axford.
The second half started very in a lively manner with two very good sides challenging for every 50 / 50 ball and Town again had some good chances to take the lead. But now Holmesdale then decided to put ten men behind the ball, and see what they could get from the game. Town could not break down the Holmesdale rear guard and the game finished one all.
Town reserve assistant manager Lee Craddock said, “ with the players available tonight we could not ask for more, every player gave his all. There were three positional change, we have played ten games and are still unbeaten in any league that is impressive. You can only play the team in front of you. Man of the Match went to Dan Delaney
