RESERVES BEAT MAIDSTONE UNITED

Whitstable Town Reserves 4 Maidstone United Reserves 0

The day started with the temperatures in the high 20’s with the game having to be to be delayed due to a problem on the motorway. Kick-off eventually took place at 3.15pm with Town up against a very strong Maidstone side. The reserves introduced themselves to the home Whitstable fans with a disallowed goal after one minute when Bola jumped above the whole Maidstone defence to score, only to have it disallowed.  Town kept pressing and on 20 minutes a good move produced the opening goal for Bola. Maidstone simply could not make inroads into the home half and on 35 minutes Tom Hill opened his account with a very good effort to make it 2-0 at half time.

Maidstone made all their substitutions at half time and started to have a reasonable spell, but the Town defence absorbed the pressure and never looked like conceding a goal. Town then took the opportunity to extend the lead with the best goal of the game, when Tom Hill turned on a great through ball and placed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The game simply got better for Town when on 80 minutes Chris Axford scored another well taken goal.

A very good start to the season, with Dan Ellett at right back receiving the man of the match award.
