Whitstable Town Reserves 2 Margate Reserves 0

Hurlimann Kent League Division One

Tuesday 9th April 2013

Margate came to the Belmont on a run of five games without defeat  but all good things have to come to an end. The game started evenly with Margate having a reasonable chance after twenty minutes. (that was their only chance in the first half). Town took the lead when the ball was won back , played into the middle for full debutant Ian Batten to score his first goal for the club. Town scored again five minutes afterwards, with a superb header by Liam Lewry, and frankly there should have been more with one a shot hitting the post and one cleared off the line. The second half was dominated by Town as they passed the ball around at will but chances were missed. The Town goalkeeper only touched the ball twice to save two free kicks. Assistant Manager, Lee Craddock said after the game. “Tonight was a very good performance considering we had three regulars missing. This opened the door for one of our under 18s and two squad players. We appeared to take the ball from them when we wanted. They hadn’t lost for five games so they are a decent side. We had one of our better players playing out of position. We did ok tonight and we now have the weekend off , which is nice and then we go again next week with two big games against two decent sides.
