This is a brief update regarding the playing squad ahead of the FA Vase tie at Saltdean United.
Shaun Welford has now received the results of the scan on his knee injury suffered in the Chatham game. Shaun has a tear in his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), but fortunately has not damaged any surrounding parts of the knee joint. This means that surgery is not required and if all goes well with his recovery, he should be back playing in 3 – 4 weeks.
Ashley Brown and Craig Cloke are both fit and available to play on Saturday, although recent signing Chris Saunders is cup-tied for the FA Vase match, having previously played for Chatham in the competition.
In other news, Ollie Lee signed for Faversham Town earlier in the month and has played in their last four games in the FA Trophy and Bostik League. Popular local player Ollie played 51 games for the team last season and in total made 73 appearances for Whitstable, scoring 9 goals. Young forward Harris Rodgers has also left the club in search of more regular football. Since his debut in March 2016, he went on to feature in 42 games for Whitstable and scored 6 goals. We wish both players well with the next step of their football career and thank them for all their efforts during their time at the Belmont and who knows, maybe one day we might see them in a Whitstable shirt again.
The playing records of all of the 2017-18 registered players will be updated on the club website shortly.
