Nicky Southall after the Robert Dyas Cup match at home to Hythe Town, Nicky explained the changes he made after the very strong performance in the Ryman League away at Faversham when they came away with a very credible draw.

” I wanted to have a look at a few players  in a competitive match, it gave me the chance to see how they would cope against an experienced Hythe Town side, making nine changes was a lot to ask.  But given that we lost by a single goal; we hit the post and had a great opportunity early on, but fluffed the chance I was encouraged by the way the lads dug in.

It’s always difficult when you throw together a bunch of players who have never played as a team before, but its days like this that will stand them in good stead. Look, it’s a long season and injuries and suspensions play a big part in how you finish in the league and we have to have players available who can fill in, then who knows they could end up keeping the shirt.”
