Things are progressing nicely with my phone being permanently attached to my ear for the last three weeks with players calling. So it’s been a whirlwind period as pre-season training is two weeks away which is unreal. I’ve had a number of meetings with players already and am looking to tie these up within next few days .
Outgoing players who have left the club are Nick Shaw, Dean Ruddy James Everitt and Buster Smissen. I would like to go on record and say thanks for all your efforts last season. Whitstable Town will always welcome you back as a friend or foe.
The next group of players are currently thinking things through. They are Tom Brunt, George Crimmen, Tom Axford and Jake Beecroft. More news will follow in the next week or so. Also Whitstable Town player of the year Micheal Everett requires knee surgery in August and his wife is expecting a child as well so he needs a little rest. Hopefully we can see Micheal with us in the near future and wish him a speedy recovery.
Players that have currently signed for next season are as follows:-
Crowd favourite Scott Heard, who can only improve next season. Scott and I have had a in depth chat as to where he wants to go as the world is his oyster (pardon the pun). Scott now needs to really listen and get his head down as I feel next season we are going to see the real Scotty Heard. I am also delighted that Laurence Harvey has signed again-big season for a big man as now myself and he agree it’s time to kick on.
Skipper James Morrish has also signed- one of your own cut him in two you will see Whitstable Town written in his DNA I really feel James is a massive talent and a big time asset to us needs to bring his tools to the party on a more consistent basis but he has drive and determination in abundance.
It is great to have the signature of Adam Woollcott who I believe is a exceptional local talent he seems to have the composure and undoubted class who will be a thorn in many a defence next season.
Another local lad is Jake Mackenzie – we have spoken at depth and he now knows what it’s like to be involved in what I call men’s footy so we should see a more mature player next season,
We have also signed Peter Huggens whom I watched play last season. He is a big player not just in stature but also in quality. He is a really down to earth guy- a “nothing fazes him” midfielder who knows where the goal is. He can also play centre half and a real feather in our cap. He is 6ft 3 inches and was one of Lordswood’s stand out players who Jason Lillis very highly recommends.
With that theme in mind we have also signed Adam Hooper who I know and have admired for his rugged determination and quality has a fantastic left foot. He is a very attacking left back who again has a huge heart and an engine that will run all day. I also know his family personally with my involvement with Gillingham FC.
I have also signed Jordan Wells who is a raw talent- a rough big diamond-who scored 18 goals in Kent League last season. He is a massive addition to the town. Last also last season was on trial at Gillingham and with the coaching from myself, Jason and Bob Reardon who recommended him. Jordan that is attracting attention from numerous clubs and we would be foolish not to take him.
I predict a massive impact next season for you oyster boys as he will be a crowd favourite without doubt.
Also Jamie O’Connell who has suffered from a nasty knee problems but is again truly talented player. He is a former Notts County apprentice and again a local player and hopefully will regain full fitness in pre- season . On the goalkeeper front we have signed Matt Lamprell who was at Whitstable two seasons ago. He was also at Ebbsfleet United and still young raw andavery talented individual.
Whitstable born and bred, Olly Lee will hopefully be the next major signing hopefully I will have more news later this week .
We also have signed again probably the longest throw within the league Billy Cobb. He isn’t just a one trick pony but has a lot more to offer.
Dan Hanshaw and big Dave Raggett have been invited back for pre-season with a number of other players. We are currently In talks with five other major signings including one centre half , two proven tried and tested centre forwards and one very talented winger that you oyster boys will like given the place that hopefully we get him from . We have are now up to 46 players to report for training and all these players will be eligible to play in 1st and u21 Ryman team’s. The list is endless as we have also the very hungry and winning reserve team that won the league also reporting for preseason. These players deserve the chance to push forward especially after last season I predict exciting times ahead for the town .
For all you fans and very loyal ones at that spread the word get behind the club we are as one excel in professionalism the new club MOTTO. Also look at the website as preseason games are starting to get confirmed.
