Tomorrow, Saturday 8th September, at the Belmont Ground, it is the Emirates FA Cup First Round Qualifying match between Whitstable Town and Bognor Regis Town.
Whitstable started their season with a 2-2 draw at Deal Town in the Extra Preliminary Round, needing a late Stuart West equaliser to earn a replay after trailing by two goals at half time. The replay ended in an exciting 4-3 home win, after a second half containing some great goals. An away tie at Combined Counties League team, CB Hounslow United, followed in the Preliminary Round and this time Whitstable won 2-0, with goals from Teddy Nelson and Tom Walmsley. Whitstable have played only three Bostik League matches to date, losing at Cray Wanderers and Ramsgate, before defeating previously unbeaten league leaders Ashford United 1-0 last weekend.
Opponents Bognor Regis Town enter the competition in this round. They have played six games in the Bostik Premier League, winning their three home games and drawing three times on their travels.
The two teams have met previously in the FA Cup back in the 1982-83 season, when Bognor won 3-0 at the Belmont in the Second Qualifying Round, after Whitstable had secured a memorable 1-0 win over Bromley in the previous round. Bognor were eventually knocked out that season in the Fourth Qualifying Round at Yeovil Town.
Whitstable and Bognor were both in the Isthmian Division One South for two seasons. In 2010-11, each match finished 1-1 and in 2011-12, Whitstable earned a 2-2 draw in the away game, but were defeated 5-2 at the Belmont, as the visitors went on to gain promotion back to the Premier Division.
The match kicks off at 3 pm and should the scores finish level after 90 minutes, there will be a replay at Nyewood Lane on Wednesday 12th September.
For anyone travelling to the game by car or coach, please note that there is no access to the ground for vehicles from Belmont Road. The car park entrance is on Grimshill Road, where the postcode is CT5 4LN.
