Roy Vinter (1937-2014)
The Club was saddened to hear of the passing of Roy Vinter yesterday, former Secretary & Treasurer of the Kent League & President of the SCEF League; Our long time supporters may recall that Roy became Secretary of WTFC in 1979.
He has been fighting illness for some time, and sadly lost that battle.
League Chairman, Denise Richmond, commented ‘He will be sorely missed by all who knew and worked with him in Football. I personally, along with many others I am sure, will miss his wise council’.
Whitstable Town FC are indebted to Roy for his support & advices over the years; Roy last attended the Ground when presenting the Club with the Kent League Div 1 ‘Reserves’ Winners Cup at last year’s Presentation Awards.
Johnson commented, ‘Roy was one of life’s true gentlemen whom was always on hand to offer his support & guidance should it be sought’.
Club President Joe Brownett and Bruce Smith said “He was always the one voice who would always have a friendly answer to the clubs problems and thought more of the game and the people involved and always understood when clubs had problems. We will miss him greatly and he was delighted when his Whitstable won some cups last season. Our thoughts are with his wife and family and he will always be remembered by everyone at the club.”
Our sincere condolences to his family; The funeral will take place on Tuesday 21st January 2014 at 12.30pm at Chilham Church, the Square at Chilham followed by 2pm at Barham Crematorium. A wake to celebrate Roy’s life, where all are invited to attend, will follow at Victoria Hotel, Canterbury
