Dave Roy, who played for Whitstable Town in the early 1970s, sadly passed away on 16 June aged 81 after a long illness. Dave was a popular member of the team assembled at that time by manager Bill Craig and is fondly remembered by those Whitstable supporters who followed the club back in those days.
The picture of the Whitstable team from 1970-71, which appears in the book “A History of Whitstable Town Football Club” by Bernard Thompson, shows Dave standing next to Dave Williams, who also passed away recently aged 65, on 25 April. Dave Williams was another well liked figure in local football who went on to work with Neil Cugley at Hythe, Ashford and Folkestone after he finished playing.
Everyone associated with Whitstable Town would like send their condolences to the families and friends of these two former players.
