Whitstable Town u18 1 Margate u18 1

Kent Youth League Under 18 South

Sunday 8th February 2015

Whitstable started the brighter in this one and went close on seven minutes when Riccardo Bonetti saw his shot cannon off the upright. Town started to turn the screw and started playing some neat intelligent football. It was Bonetti again who went close for Town on 12 minutes when Wickham picked up the ball in his own half and played in Donnelly down the left channel . He beat his man and put in a great cross for Bonetti to hook his shot wide from six yards. Margate had to wait until the 43rd minute for their first chance which they had a shot that hit the post against the run of play.

Margate came out for the second half on the front foot and went close after 48minutes when they had a header well tipped over by Birch in the Town goal. Up to the 80th minute it was all about the defences with both teams defending outstandingly. On 86 minutes Margate broke quickly down the left and put in a great cross for their striker was on hand to tap in from four yards to give Margate the lead. Another goal conceded in the last 10 minutes. Town responded quickly on 88 minutes Austin picked up the ball on the halfway line and played a great pass over the top of the Margate defence for Charlie Wallis to time his run and place his shot past the oncoming Margate keeper. This was a solid performance from Town’s youngsters.

Margate Under 18s 0 Whitstable Town Under 18s

Kent Youth League Under 18 South

Sunday 14th December 2014

Scorers: Kahled Almshari, Rhys Austin

Whitstable Town Under 18s achieved their second win and clean sheet of the season as they beat a strong Margate team who had won the last three league games. The first half was a tight affair with the visitors having the first attempt on two minutes when Khaled Alshamri had a shot well saved by the Margate keeper. Town had most of the opening twenty minutes and opened the scoring after 17 minutes when the inform Bradley Dale played Alshamri in. He beat his marker to side foot past the on rushing keeper. Margate responded well and started to pile on the pressure but for good organization and defending the town back four stood firm and untroubled and it was the visitors that looked more likely on the counter.

Margate came out for the second half with all guns blazing and could have equalised after 55 minutes when they struck a thunderbolt against the post. Town still looked a threat with both McGachie and Alshamri  going close but Town had to wait until the 72nd minute when a Margate defender handled a Dale cross in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the sport. It was Rhys Austin who stepped up to slam the ball home. Town had time for one last chance when Wickham whipped in a superb cross for Jay Donnelly to glance his header against the post.

This was a excellent performance from a young Town team.

Bearsted Under 18s 3 Whitstable Town 2

Kent Youth League Under 18 (South)

Sunday 26th October 2014

Whitstable Town Under 18s started strongly and were a handful on the counter with both Rivera and Hegedus going close in the first ten minutes of game.  Bearsted started to get more possession and went close on a couple of occasions but Charlie Hills in the Town goal pulled off two breath taking saves. However after 25 minutes Town broke with pace and purpose and Hegedus hit a twenty yarder into the top corner of the net to put them into the lead. Bearsted started to push for the equaliser and were rewarded with a goal from close range after 33 minutes. With Bearsted seeing more possession, Town still looked dangerous on the counter with Dale, Rivera, and Wallis going close but it was Bearsted who took the lead after forty minutes with a well worked goal. After the restart, Town started to have some possession of their own and were rewarded for their efforts on the stroke of halftime when Dale drilled a great strike into the top left hand corner of the net to make the half time score 2-2.

Town started the second half on the attack and had a shot from Wallis cleared of the line and Rivera had a attempt that cannoned off the upright. Town looked the only team in this game in the second half but could not finish their chances and reduced Bearsted to one free kick that hit the crossbar. However Town once again in the 88th minute of the match conceded a last gasp goal. This was not the end for town they still had time for one last chance when Fairweather poked the ball just wide of the near post from a Dale corner.

It was a excellent performance from the lads if they keep showing that level of performance we will start to pick up points.

Team: Hills, Austin, Wickham, Okwudinka, Fairweather, Wallis, Dale, Bonetti, Rivera,  Alshamri, Hegedus.
