Hurlimann Kent Leage Division One
Wednesday 8th May 2013
With only nine players and with squad members unavailable Town travelled to Herne Bay. We had to play our number one goalkeeper out field and had our U18 keeper in the pitch. We also had a number of players playing out of position. Whitstable lost 3-0 against a a strong Bay side who included four first teamers.

Managers Review of the season
I’m writing this on the evening of making 100% sure of clinching the Hurlimann Kent League Division One title. Today’s two all draw against Lordswood sealed the championship. The first thing I must do is thank everyone behind the scenes – all the hard work they do is amazing and they never stop week in and week out.
I must then thank all the first team management for all their support – they are always there for advice and then thanks to the chairman for all his support.
Thank you to everyone from all of the reserve set up.
The first talk I had with the previous manager was you must win the league, and we did not let him, the current manager or ourselves down. From day one we have been top of the league. Ever since we beat Maidstone United Reserves, who were the favourites at the start of the season, 4-0 in the first game of the season, we have been very professional. We have been relentless in training and ruthless in all games. We are certainly the fittest side in the league and it was great to keep up with Maidstone United, Chatham Town and Erith Town all of whom are established decent reserve sides.
A few statistics for the season:
We have played some good sides his year and it has been great to play against
excellent young sides, The highlight for me was going to the Gallagher Stadium with
Maidstone and ourselves in the top two places. We came away with three points ending their chances of winning the league. I also believe the Stones only lost there once. TO US – our biggest disappointment was not getting into the Kent Intermediate Cup final, losing to a poor side – there you go- my opinion !
Lee, Graham and myself will not be to disappointed to see the back of the Kent
League as in the last three years, (not all with Whitstable) we have finished Division Two
winners, Division One runners up and now Division One winners- not bad record really,
The Ryman League under 21’s hold many challenges which I am sure everyone will relish, with better players, higher grade officials and bigger challenges. My last comments are to wish the players good luck for but remember not to let yourselves
down in our last three games of the season. Lee, Graham, and Chris you have been brilliant- you are part of the success this year in a big way.
Thank you all the supporters for all your support
Best wishes
