Faversham Town U21s 2 Whitstable Town U21s 0

Ryman Football League Under 21 South

Thursday 2nd April 2015

Former Oyster Joe Lester returned to action for the Lilywhites and illustrated the potential he has, creating chance after chance as Faversham dominated the first half against a lack lustre Town.

The home side went one up with their first chance in the opening minute when the ball crossed from the left slicing open the town defence who appeared at odds with one another; before they went two up shortly after.Town appeared to allow the home side to come at them and it wasn’t until the second half that the away side really started to press; the best chance coming with just ten minutes to go as Town’s 11 turned at the edge of the area having beaten three opponents before lobbing the keeper with a fine shot only for it to come straight off the bar.

Harry Brooks was undoubtedly the busier of the two keepers making several fines saves in the process, keeping the score just to two conceded; but it was the introduction of two substitutes Liam Mathews & Khalid Ashrami that became industrious and to whom the latter had the best opportunity of the game with only minutes remaining, but alas having been put through nicely he stumbled and the chance went missing!

It was all too late for the young Oystermen in a competitive fixture where neither set of players didn’t shirk a challenge, but to their credit controlled their emotions; Faversham were worthy winners.

Whitstable play Chatham Town next Thursday at The Belmont, 7.45pm kick off.

Whitstable Town U21s 0 AFC Hornchurch U21s 2

Ryman Under 21 League Cup

Thursday 26th March 2015

The Under 21s were well beaten on Thursday evening as they went down 2-0 at home to AFC Hornchurch. A goal from Ross Damrell after ten minutes and then the striker got a second on 44 minutes when he slid the ball past Harry Brooks. It was a disappointing evening for the Under 21s as they struggled to get back in the game in the second half. Whitstable’s Malachi Drackett was sent off when he was judged to be the last man as he fouled a Hornchurch striker.

Team: Brooks, Skinner, McGinty, Sayer, Drackett, Donnelly, Osei, Guila, Callendar, Baah (Alshmari), Okwudinka
