It was a night of celebration and  reflection at the Belmont on Friday night as Whitstable Town FC staged their annual Presentation evening in the clubhouse. With the struggle against relegation from the Ryman League finally won there were a number of positives that could be taken out of the season.

Presentation Night 2013 No 11The Chairman presented the ‘Board’ to all assembled & thanked each individually for their contribution – the unsung heroes whom together do so much for the Club behind the scenes; however the evening’s awards started by looking at someone who with his family have put so much into the Football Club during the past season (and years before),  Peter Blackmore his wife Pat & daughter Denise commit so much time to club. Peter can always be found doing one job or another throughout each & every week. He collected the award of Clubman of the Year with daughter Denise (Pictured with Chairman Gary Johnson & Manager Nicky Southall). This was the second time he had picked up the Trophy.

Presentation Night 2013 No 16The evening then went onto reflect on our successful reserve team. Firstly looking at individual awards as the versatile Dan Ellet won the two prizes. Firstly for Manager’s Player of the Season and also for the Player’s Player of the season. (Pictured with Reserve Team Manager Bob Reardon & Manager Nicky Southall)

The evening went on to celebrate the teams achievement as the team were presented the Hurlimann Kent League Division One Trophy by Roy Vinter – Kent League Secretary.

The Supporters award was very close with only three votes separating Presentation Night 2013 No 45Micheal, Jake Beecroft and Laurence Harvey. Laurence went onto win the Most Improved Player of the Season and Oysterboy’s Player of the Season(Pictured with Taffy, Aaron & Nicky Southall)

Presentation Night 2013 No 42Manager, Nicky Southall reflected on the season gone and looked optimistically to the next few months as he builds his backroom staff and team for the coming season; thanked all at the Club & especially those fans whom turned up week in week out. He also singled out one supporter Taffy as his ‘fan’ of the season. (pictured Nicky Southall, Taffy & Gary Johnson)

A great night was had by all.

Thanks everyone for a successful quiz night

Loyal supporter The Rev. Geoffrey Collins hosted the event with nearly 50 in attendance.

Club Captain James Morrish won the Heads & Tails after going head to head with Oysterboy Taffy.

Another great club evening, thanks for your support.

As part of Manager Nicky Southall’s plans for next season Nicky makes the following announcement and addition to his Coaching Staff….. ‘I’m pleased to announce that Jason Lillis has agreed to join Whitstable Town as part of a restructuring procedure in the coaching setup for next season; this is the first part of my plans for next season’s remolding and plans going forward. Talks have being ongoing for a few weeks and as a club, myself and the chairman, are glad to have Jason on board as he is a great coach and has led Lordswood FC over 3-4 years with professionalism, dignity and passion leaving them in a much improved position than when he first arrived there. I’ve known Jason for a number of years and as a ex professional footballer his knowledge and wisdom will be invaluable as we look forward to next season.’

Just had a message passed to me from Dean Ruddy,

” Hi everyone. Gemma has gave birth to our little baby Rex Ruddy (7lbs 7 ounces) at 14:12 this afternoon (Saturday). They are both doing great and I am a very proud daddy!   Dean

Congratulations Dean and Gemma from everyone at the club. I guess this was a good enough excuse to miss the game at Burgess Hill  !!!
