It was a night of celebration and reflection at the Belmont on Friday night as Whitstable Town FC staged their annual Presentation evening in the clubhouse. With the struggle against relegation from the Ryman League finally won there were a number of positives that could be taken out of the season.
The Chairman presented the ‘Board’ to all assembled & thanked each individually for their contribution – the unsung heroes whom together do so much for the Club behind the scenes; however the evening’s awards started by looking at someone who with his family have put so much into the Football Club during the past season (and years before), Peter Blackmore his wife Pat & daughter Denise commit so much time to club. Peter can always be found doing one job or another throughout each & every week. He collected the award of Clubman of the Year with daughter Denise (Pictured with Chairman Gary Johnson & Manager Nicky Southall). This was the second time he had picked up the Trophy.
The evening then went onto reflect on our successful reserve team. Firstly looking at individual awards as the versatile Dan Ellet won the two prizes. Firstly for Manager’s Player of the Season and also for the Player’s Player of the season. (Pictured with Reserve Team Manager Bob Reardon & Manager Nicky Southall)
The evening went on to celebrate the teams achievement as the team were presented the Hurlimann Kent League Division One Trophy by Roy Vinter – Kent League Secretary.
The first team awards were dominated by two players as firstly Micheal Everitt (pictured) was awarded the Golden Boot (pictured with Nicky Southall & Gary Johnson) scoring nine goals pushing Buster Smissen into second place with eight goals. Micheal also went onto win the Player’s, Manager’s and Supporters Player of the Season awards.
The Supporters award was very close with only three votes separating Micheal, Jake Beecroft and Laurence Harvey. Laurence went onto win the Most Improved Player of the Season and Oysterboy’s Player of the Season(Pictured with Taffy, Aaron & Nicky Southall)
Manager, Nicky Southall reflected on the season gone and looked optimistically to the next few months as he builds his backroom staff and team for the coming season; thanked all at the Club & especially those fans whom turned up week in week out. He also singled out one supporter Taffy as his ‘fan’ of the season. (pictured Nicky Southall, Taffy & Gary Johnson)
