Whitstable Town Junior Football Club

Main Stand

Whitstable Town Junior Football Club (WTJFC) – a Football Association Charter Standard Development Club – is Whitstable’s oldest youth football club having been running for over 20 years. The club offers opportunities to girls and boys under the age of 18 to train and play football matches in a friendly atmosphere under the guidance of qualified coaches. It has teams in the Faversham and District Youth Football League as well as the East Kent Youth Football League.

This season WTJFC is delighted to have developed links with the senior club for the first time in many years. The aim is for greater integration, bringing the juniors and the seniors closer together. All junior players can now attend home matches for free when accompanied by an adult. In addition, Ian Grieves has joined the WTJFC committee as Youth Development Officer, building on his season-long FA Mentor role with the club. Ultimately we want to see the development of coaches and players so that the juniors of today become the first team players of the future. A strong youth set-up can only benefit the two adult teams at the Belmont and will give the gifted youngsters something to strive for.

Currently we have the following teams:
Under 14s (East Kent Youth Football League. Home matches usually at the Belmont on Sundays at midday)
Under 12s (East Kent Youth Football League. Radfall Rec, Sundays at 2pm)
Under 10s (East Kent Youth Football League. Radfall Rec, Saturdays at 2pm)
Under 10 Colts (Faversham & District Youth Football League. Radfall Rec, Saturday mornings)
Under 8s (Faversham & District Youth Football League. Radfall Rec, Saturday mornings)
Under 7s (Faversham & District Youth Football League. Radfall Rec, Saturday mornings).

During the winter months (end September to March) training is on Wednesdays at CCW from 5.30pm – 7.30pm. When the evenings are lighter training is at Radfall Rec.

The WTJFC committee is led by Steve Clayton (Chair and acting Welfare Officer), Sarah Couzens (Secretary and U8 coach), and Mike Couzens (Treasurer, Charter Standard Officer and U12 coach). Other committee members are Natalie Loveridge (Fixtures Secretary) and Sarah Griffiths (Registrations Secretary and Welfare Officer-elect). Other members of the committee are Ian Grieves (Youth Development Officer and representatives from each of the teams (Stuart Samson, Rob Cleary, Jack Weston, Richard Hosking and Michael Kenneally).

As a fairly new committee we are looking to develop a social sub-committee to further improve the family feel of the club.
