FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay

Tuesday 2nd September 2014

Whitstable Town went through to the next round of the FA Cup as they won three one at home to Walton Casuals on Tuesday night.

It was a positive start for the Town despite being without Scott Heard, Jake Mackenzie, Ollie Gray and Kane Rowland away on holiday and Ashley Ulph still injured. Joe Kennett cam straight back into the team producing a commanding performance alongside Nick Treadwell in midfield. Opposition keeper, Luke Badiali was hand to make a great early save but Tom Loynes was

on hand to put Town in the lead when scored after 28 minutes. However Casuals were to get a deserved equaliser when Charlie Gilliard was to pounce on a mistake by Luke Watkins to bring the scores level.

Town started the second half positively and finally regained the lead after 74 minutes when Luke Doherty scores his first goal for the Town from a scramble in the six yard box.  Nine minutes later Ryan Golding, who looked sharper, slotted home. Unfortunately he received a yellow card as he lifted his shirt over his head.  Walton Casuals played with a never say die attitude but eventually went home disappointed as Town shone in the final period of the game and on the balance of play deserved the result on the night.
