UNDER 21’s WIN AT HOME TO THAMESMEAD

Whitstable Town Under 21’s 1 Thamesmead Town 0

Ryman Under 21 League (South)

Saturday 5th October 2013

Goal Scorer Stephen Munn

Town went into the game knowing that Thamesmead are the only team to take a point off  favourites  Maidstone United ,so it was going to be a difficult match.  Town started the best  by playing the ball around very well  with Beau Taylor marshalling the back four very well. There was very  little penetration from Thamesmead  and the first half fizzled out with Town in total control and visitors rarely looking like scoring. With the half-time score being goalless Town started the second much the better with Dan Keyte and Jordan Wells coming more into the game.

Whitstable Town were now really getting on top causing the Mead to argue amongst themselves but if  hosts had  that bit of quality in the final third  the game would have been over at half time. With ten minutes to go the ball was driven across the penalty area for Stephen Munn to bundle the ball into the net to give Town a deserved three points. Whitstable did finish the game with ten men following a sending off for two yellow cards two minutes before time.

Town coach Ian Grieves stated after the game  “We should have been out of sight by half time and with ore quality in our play we would have won by two or three goals. Matt Byott has  been great for us this afternoon along with the back four .  Well done to all the young lads .
