Whitstable Town U18’s were beaten by a Dover side full of quality on Sunday morning at the Belmont.

In truth Dover dominated the most part of the match apart from a 10 minute spell in the second half. It was during that spell that Whitstable grabbed their only goal through Josh Howland who was again set up by centre half Scott Dale. Captain for the day Dale launched a great through ball which Howland ran onto and lobbed the keeper perfectly. This made the score 3-1 after 52 minutes and the Town boys knew the next goal was vital. Unfortunately a slip up at the back aloud Dover to get their fourth which killed the game as a contest as Dover gained control of the game again, running out 1-6 victors.

Coach Woollcott said “A learning experience for the boys today against a top side. We wanted to build on last week’s performance but we didn’t look after the ball well enough and against players like Dover have got you get punished. Will still look to take positives from the game and bearing in mind how hot it was and how well Dover moved the ball I was pleased with a number of the boys effort during the second half. It would have been easy to not give 100% today but a number of the boys stood up and gave it their all.  Scott Dale gave everything as always and led the team which I expect from him anyway, and Bradley Dale didn’t stop running all game. We move on to Wednesday now which will be another tough game away to Dulwich in the FA Youth Cup.”
