UNDER 18’S THROUGH IN KENT CUP

Ditton Minors Under 18s 1-2 Whitstable Town Under 18s

Kent County Youth Cup Round 1

Sunday 27th September 2015

Whitstable under 18’s are through to the next round of the Kent County Cup after a 2-1 win over Ditton Minors. Town were missing several key players which meant some shuffling around. This led to one of the highlights of the game, which was the performance of Ted Allen who dropped back into centre half and showed real quality throughout the game.

Ditton where clearly up for the challenge of facing Kent Youth League opposition. They didn’t allow Town to settle into the game and this led to a scrappy tie. Nevertheless, Town managed to grab the lead through Kailan Webb midway through the first half. Webb rocketed a great strike into the top corner after some good work out wide by Joe Remington and Jordan Bartlett. Town were unable to build on this lead and went in at half time with the score at 1-0.

The second half carried on very much like the first; scrappy, with no real quality on the final pass. Town did however get a second through Khaled Alshamri who bundled the ball home after Kailan Webb played the ball into a dangerous area. Ditton pulled one back with the last kick of the game through a penalty which Ryan Birch nearly got a hand to. Very close to being Birch’ second penalty save of the week.

The game finished with Whitstable 2-1 victors, and they now look forward to the next round.
