A Kent County Council Road Safety advertisement, to be screened on ITV Meridian, was filmed at The Belmont on Monday.
The short advertisement includes two of the three elements filmed at the home of Whitstable Town – one with a keeper answering his mobile whilst about to face a penalty (XXXX), the concluding part a road traffic accident illustrating the damage created when using a mobile (filmed in the entrance to the ground with amazing screen lighting and effects).
The third part of the add believed to be screened in May, was also filmed in Whitstable at a nearby hair salon.
Stewart Wickham, the Clubs Goalkeeping Coach & U18s Manager liaised with Film Production company Transmission Productions Ltd www.wearetransmission.com on the day and was amazed at the amount of work that went into the making of the TV advertisement filmed over 5 hours at the ground. Stewart, a registered referee, also doubled up as the man in black.
Several young players accompanied the two actors drafted in on the day, enjoying the experience too even if they did get cold……thank you boys.
Almost 30 fans were also in attendance to round off the occasion and possibly be seen in the add.
Chairman Gary Johnson, whom was asked by a friend if the club would be interested in hosting the making of this production jumped at the chance to once again illustrate the Club within the community and wider TV transmission area; he said
‘Road Safety is paramount to all within the community, we all have a part to play in promoting sensible and safe driving; it is of course particularly important as we travel around the South East with our longest journey this season a 230 mile round trip……it’s been great for the club to be involved and good that a number of supporters were able to join us too.’
Can you spot your face in the few behind the goal?
Thanks to the KCC for the opportunity to be involved; we enjoyed the experience.
