On Thursday evening Whitstable manager Scott Porter confirmed the signings of Nick Treadwell and Darren Marsden, who both go into the squad for the FA Cup fixture on Saturday at The Belmont.
Nick Treadwell returned to play in the last pre-season game against Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday having spent the majority of last season at Ramsgate, where he suffered a nasty head injury playing against Herne Bay. His determined midfield performances for Whitstable during the 2014-15 Ryman League campaign established him as a firm favourite with the fans and it is good to see him back.
Darren Marsden is a creative midfielder who was a young player at Gillingham before going on to play for a number of Kent clubs including Margate, Faversham, Herne Bay, Folkestone Invicta, Ashford and Hythe. He did make an appearance in a Whitstable Town shirt in a 2-0 defeat at Walton & Hersham back in November 2014. His arrival will further strengthen the squad being put together for the new season.
Details of all the registered players will be added to the website over the next week.
