Whitstable Town 1 Three Bridges 3
Ryman Football League Division One South
Saturday 14th November 2015
Whitstable Town did show an improvement but sunk to their eighth defeat in a 3-1 reverse at home to Three Bridges on Saturday afternoon.
New signings Gary Mickelborough and Sam Conlon were included in the Whitstable squad but it was Three Bridges who created the first opportunity after eleven minutes when Mark Pulling had a shot that went well wide. Six minutes later Mickelborough had a shot way off target for the hosts. Bridges were creating the better chances and a shot by Sam MacVicar was well palmed away by Town keeper Dan Eason. Eason was on hand again blocking well as Tony Garrod broke into the Town penalty area on half an hour. Connor Heffernan had a shot on target held by Bridges keeper Elliot Flack. However it
was the visitors who took the lead on 37 minutes as the ball came out to Ben Godfrey who looped a header into the top of the net. A couple of shots from distance from Town before half time as firstly Sam Bewick shot wide and then Connor Heffernan hit a dipping shot over the bar.
Town did start the better of the two teams in the second half and were level on 50 minutes as Mickelborough pounced as Flack spilled the ball to tap home. On 61 minutes Garrod hit a shot straight at Eason and then at the other end Bewick had a shot held easily by Flack. On 64 minutes Bridges regained the lead as MacVicar broke in from the left and slotted past Eason. Within two minutes Garrod hit a shot with the inside of his foot onto the top of the cross bar. With two minutes to go Garrod cut through but the ball stuck in the mud as the rain fell and Eason was able to save. Town were pressing looking for an equaliser but couldn’t break through and it was Garrod who sealed the win a minute into injury time when on the break
he ran through and fired home.
Town had showed a greater fight than recent games but still came away pointless.
