Tuesday 14th July 2015

Southern Counties (East) new boys Hollands & Blair gave Whitstable a lesson in finishing as they ran out very easy winners in a 6-0 thumping.

The early exchanges were fairly even with Town having the first opportunity after six minutes when Harvey McMorrow ran in from the right but Vincent

Mansney saved easily. However as the half progressed Blair started to take control and took the lead after 19 minutes when Lewis Taylor sent a deep cross from the right finding Luke Fewsdale who headed home unchallenged. Town nearly drew level a minute late when Sam Bewick broke through and shot just wide. Blair however continued to press and increased the lead on 25 minutes when another cross from Lewis Taylor found  Emmanuel Abe also headed in from the far post. Things got even worse for Whitstable two minutes later when Louis Valencia hooked in a great shot past Town keeper Ben Kitcherside. Things got even worse after half an hour when Bryan Greenfield hit a superb shot that looped the ball into the top of the net. Charlie Smith did have a chance for Whitstable a minute later when the striker rapped a shot against the inside of the post and on 38 minutes Travis Jackson had a shot deflected wide for Town.

A clear cut penalty on 54 minutes saw Blair increase their lead as Greenfield hammered home. Bewick who was by far Whitstable’s best player got on the end of a cross but shot wide and then Jack Goldsmith shot from outside the penalty area but Blair keeper Mansney tipped the ball over the bar. Whitstable keeper Kitcherside had to be at his best to push a shot over the bar.  Veteran striker Rob Dennis completed the misery for Whitstable with the last kick of the match as Blair completed the 6-0 rout.

Town will now need to re-group prior to the next game at home to Thurrock on Saturday.
