TOWN GO DOWN TO ISLANDERS

Whitstable Town 1 Guernsey 3

Ryman Football League Division One (South)

Thursday 20th March 2014

Whitstable Town were  beaten easily by Guernsey on Thursday evening coming away with a three one win.  Whitstable

Town found themselves two nil down very early on. Firstly Marc McGrath volleyed home the first after 10 minutes and then six minutes later league leading scorer Ross Allen got the Islanders second as he received a ball from McGrath. The visitors continued to press and Town’s defence stood firm for the rest of the half.

Allen brought up his half-century of goals for the season when a poor defensive header was met by the Guernsey striker to put Guernsey three  up after 56 minutes. However, Charlie Smith had a shot deflected past Guernsey keeper Chris Tardif to give Town a lifeline but despite more pressure on the Guernsey goal they were unable to get any more goals. The game was soured by the sending off of substitute John Guest in the last minute.

Town will now need to pick themselves up as the fixtures now come thick &  fast.
