Whitstable Town 1 Walton Casuals 1

Ryman Football League Division One (South)

Saturday 16th March 2013

The game between fellow Ryman League Division One (South) Whitstable Town and Walton Casuals ended in stalemate as they shared a one all draw.

All the action in the first half occurred in the first ten minutes as the game started in a frenetic manner. After two minutes James Everitt sent in a shot that was blocked by Gareth Williams in the Walton Casuals goal. The rebound came to Laurence Harvey who shot wide. Three minutes later Malachi Hudson had an attempt from distance for the visitors but the ball went wide.

A further two minutes and Mu Maan sent a shot high and wide of the target. Whitstable then had a further attempt after ten minutes when Buster Smissen had a shot blocked by a defender. The rebound came to David Raggett whose shot was well saved by Williams. The rest of the first half was a mid field battle with few chances being created. The half time whistle blew with both teams unable to break the deadlock.

An improved Whitstable started the second half in a much more positive frame of mind with James Everitt creating the first opportunity for the hosts after 49minutes but his attempt was well blocked by Harry Hoadley.  Twelve minutes later Smissen had a shot that was blocked and went wide for a corner.

Then on the hour mark, Walton Casuals got the lead when McShane found himself free on the edge of the penalty area. He managed to loop the ball over Dean Ruddy in the Town goal just under the bar. Almost immediately Town were back on even terms when Jake Beecroft sent in a free kick that found Micheal Everitt whose bullet head found the target.

After 64 minutes Scott Heard was able to hit a rasping shot for Whitstable from 25 yards. His attempt was magnificently saved by Williams who tipped the ball over the bar. A minute later Maan had a chance for the visitors but sent his shot high and wide of the target. Whitstable then had three further opportunities to take all three points but failed to capitalise. Firstly after 73 minutes Danny Williams pulled the ball back for James Everitt to send in a shot that was deflected wide. Four minutes later Williams broke free but could only shoot straight at Williams and then again after 84 minutes Williams had a tame effort easily saved.

As the final whistle blew both sides had to settle for a point as they look anxiously over their shoulders in the league.
