RESERVES DRAW IN FLOODLIGHT TROPHY

Whitstable Town Reserves 1 Deal Town Reserves 1

Kent Floodlight Trophy

Tuesday 5th March 2013

Town started the game with seven regulars sitting on the bench , and gave a debut to a new under 18. Other member of the squad were given a chance to impress. Also the reserve goalkeeper played the sticks.

The game started with Town passing the ball round at will , having a total number of  eight chances to score, but with the Whitstable forwards were basically trying to walk the ball in or lay a goal on a plate for a fellow striker. On 35 minutes, Deal Town scored from a rebound after a good stop from the goalkeeper leaving them leaving Whitstable one down at half time.

The second half started with more of the same,  chance after chance going astray but on 65 minutes, Town scored with a good strike from Vince Collis. They then made all three substitutions in the next five minutes and from there the hosts laid siege to the Deal goal, basically attacking at will , with every Deal long clearance coming straight back. However Town could not find the winner and the game ended 1-1.

Management comments;  What a great chance for all squad members to have a run out ,all putting in an excellent shift. Thank you to all the supporters generous comments about the way we are trying to play football , and the way all squad members are given the chance to perform.  It was also a good chance to rest players for the next half a dozen games which contain  three semi-finals. All  the squad performed well and it is  shame we could not put away any of the many many chances.
