Ashford’s  3G pitch saved this weeks game from the weather and what a performance Town served up.

Right from the whistle Towns Glynn-Williams showed the visitors intentions with a barn storming run at the heart of Borough’s defence, Whitstable’s  confidence was high after recent performances and were in no mood to let Borough to get a grip in midfield, Gibbons, Phillis, Atkinson and Glynn-Williams worked tirelessly closing down and then feeding the forwards, Colthup and Hudson went close and only a good save from the Ashford keeper prevented Gibbons from finding the back of the net.

At the other end a new defensive partnership of Reynolds and Rosser worked well, when Borough did break through it was Town’s keeper Charlie Hills in top form with a string of excellent save’s to earn him the MOM award.

The second half saw Town reduced to ten players with George Gibbons unable to continue, Whitstable still troubled Ashford but it was now a case of playing on the break with just one up front.

Borough broke the deadlock with  twenty minutes left on the clock, Town hit  back straight away and were unlucky not to score when Atkinson headed just wide from Hudson’s corner, the next attack saw Fisher bombing down the right  his through ball finding Glynn-Williams who chipped the Ashford keeper only for a defender to clear it off the line.

Borough scored three late goals as Towns ten players ran out of energy, they walked off the pitch to a standing ovation, with substitutes and a little bit of luck the score line could have been a lot different.

U14's Whitstable Town 0-4 Tunbridge Wells

Kent County Challenge Cup 2nd Round U14’s.......The first half was a scrappy affair but it was Tunbridge who had the better chances, hitting first the post then the bar followed by an excellent save from Towns keeper Charlie Hills.

Town were struggling to find their team mates in a very competitive midfield, the deadlock was broken five minutes before the interval when the Tunbridge left winger raced between the home team’s defence and scored with a delightful chip, giving Towns stopper no chance.

After a half time reshuffle and a rocket Town finally found their feet and for twenty minutes bossed the game, corner after corner kept the pressure on the visitors goal, Callum Reynolds saw his shot from twenty five yards cannon back off the crossbar, Sam Hudson’s free kick was only inches over and as Towns confidence grew, centre half Louis Glynn-Williams made a number of raids into midfield driving Town forward, Dan Fisher and George Gibbons combined well on the right and Llewelyn Colthup impressed up front working hard to hold the ball up and was involved in everything Town did.

Against the run of play a slip at the back let the visitors in for their second goal, two further defensive errors gifted Tunbridge another two goals which flattered the visitors a little and was hard for Towns youngsters to take.
