RESERVE MANAGEMENT TEAM REVIEW PROGRESS….

Bob Reardon, Reserve Team Manager  speaking on behalf of his management team says:-

As a team we could not have asked for a better start to the season but we are still trying to instil into the squad we must keep our feet on the ground. This year we have tried to model ourselves on the more successful reserve sides at Maidstone and Herne Bay. We have a squad of around 18 players but are always looking to improve. Unfortunately, we have to release three players this week and we wish them good luck in their future careers.

We have done pretty well in front of goal this year with twelve players scoring with some defenders on four. The squad includes players aged between seventeen and twenty-two years old and we believe we have the age group about right. The first team have signed nine of the squad on Ryman league forms and Justin keeps in contact with all of them.

We currently have in the squad a lad that represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 21 level and a former under 18 international. These players give the younger lads the benefit of their experience on match days. The competition within the squad is great and the training sessions have been excellent under the capable hands of UEFA A coach, Graham Parker who joined in pre season and a long with Ian Grieves this has really helped. We do have a lot of hard work in front of us but the support we get from Justin and Richard is top notch. I especially appreciate the discussions I have with Richard on a Friday morning.

I would also like to mention the under 18’s who despite being year 1 boys (17 years old) did excellently on Thursday against Dagenham & Redbridge.  Well done lads – keep it going !!!.

Best wishes to all around the club

Bob, Lee and Graham
