A last gasp equaliser from Aaron James gave Whitstable a deserved point in a 2-2 draw at home to Three Bridges on Saturday afternoon.

Whitstable should have been ahead as early as the second minute when Kane Rowland was brought down in the penalty area. Tom Loynes stepped but his penalty lacked power and Three Bridges  keeper  Kieron managed to push the ball away. Whitstable were applying all the early pressure and Jake Mackenzie on his 100th appearance broke through into the penalty area but the ball ricocheted off

the outside of the post. On 16 minutes, Mackenzie again surged through but this time fired over the bar. On 21 minutes a Scott Heard shot come cross went straight at Thorpe. Three Bridges had to wait until the 22nd minute before their first attempt when Ben Godfrey hit a long range shot over the bar. On 25 minutes Whitstable’s Ollie Gray came in at the far post but couldn’t get any power on his shot.  However Three Bridges took the lead after 31 minutes against the run of play when debutant keeper Marc  Beresford tried to clear the ball away but his clearance went  straight at Godfrey and the ball rebounded into the net. This breathed life into Bridges and Godfrey forced a save by Beresford after 42 minutes and the Town keeper had to be at his best when Sam MacVicar fired a shot from the right. Beresford got neatly down to his left pushed the ball around the post. On 44 minutes Nick Treadwell had an opportunity to bring the scores level but headed wide of a empty net.  The assistant referee was however flagging for offside.

Three Bridges started the second half on the front foot and on 53 minutes Tony Garrod got in on goal but Beresford spread his body and stopped the ball. Within two minutes the visitors were ahead when Godfrey rose above the Town defence to head home from a corner. On 55 minutes Allan Tait could have got another goal but his attempt went over the bar. Whitstable were now getting back into the game and Joe Kane had an attempt when he shot wide from the edge of the box. On 65 minutes following a melee in the Bridges penalty area Gray fired over the bar but Town were back in the game after 68 minutes when Kane pounced on a loose ball and fired the ball home. On 73 minutes an overhead kick from Treadwell went over the bar. The game was now going end to end and Godfrey sent a drive over the bar from long distance.  However it was two minutes into injury time when  James got the point when he got his head on a high ball into the area to head past Thorpe who was challenging for the ball.

It was a well earned point for Whitstable but they did leave it very late.
