Going into the game without Calum Heffernan and Calum Wraight both suspended and Scott Punton and Sam Conlon not available, Whitstable Town put up a gutsy performance in their 2-0 defeat at Dorking Wanderers.

The first half saw the hosts dominating the chances but the Town defence put a stoic rear guard action to keep the scores level at half time. Shaun Findley had the first opportunity as he headed onto the top of the cross bar after eleven minutes. On 20 minutes Chris Boulter hit a shot straight

at Town keeper Dan Eason. Eason was on hand to save from Tom Tolfrey and then ex Whitstable midfielder Jake Beecroft hit a long range shot well wide. The Town defence held up well with Ryan Cheek who was carrying an injury and make shift defender Charlie Smith snuffing out a number of attacks. On 39 minutes Beecroft shot a free kick over the bar. Tolfrey was then to have a shot which was parried by Eason but Tony Oaks following up was offside. Sam Bewick did well to clear the ball away just before half time.

The second started in a similar vein as a dipping shot from Harry Shipton was saved well by Eason. Whitstable were now getting more belief as they began to create chances. On 52 minutes Kieron Campbell ran in and shot over the bar. Ira Jackson was then to have a shot blocked. On 55 minutes Reiss Crimmen blasted a shot from 25 yards which slammed against the upright. On 64 minutes Campbell pushed in down the left and hit the ball just wide. Just as Whitstable looked the more likely to break the deadlock, Dorking Wanderers snatched the lead on 73 minutes as Ben Dyett rose above the Whitstable defence to head home. Within five

minutes Dorking were two up as Tolfrey weaved his way into the penalty area and slotted home to seal the points. Conner Heffernan had a shot eight minutes from time deflected for a corner and then Eason was on hand to save  to keep the score at two.

Whitstable came away with nothing where they really did deserve something!!!
