Mark Wyver reports: Whitstable Town travelled to Cray Wanderers for the third meeting this season between the two clubs. In this the Quarter Final of the John Ullman Kent Senior Cup.
The Reds were missing the Cup tied Liam Quinn at Centre Back which meant Gary Sayer moving across to partner Steven Lloyd with Jake Gess playing at Right Back. In midfield new signing Nick Bagley was introduced on the right hand side. Cray who are unbeaten in their last fourteen games gave a full debut to young Reserve team striker Tommy Whitnell and it was he who became the star of the show with two goals in his sides 3-0 win. After an even opening he gave his side the lead after some poor defending at the back by the Reds. The nearest Whitstable came to scoring was when Ian Pulman tested young Jack Bradshaw in the home goal who saved well. In the second half Town never really looked liked scoring although worked hard against their high flying opponents. It was young Whitnall who put his side 2-0 up when he headed home unchallenged past Kevin Fewell and the Wands were heading for the Kent Senior Cup semi finals. Marc Seager introduced another new signing in the shape of Danny Wisker after he had replaced Tom Parker on the left of midfield. The third and final goal arrived when Steve Aris beat Fewell from close range to complete a hat-trick of wins for The Wnds over the Oystermen. Whitstable Town 1. Fewell 2. Gess 3. Tipple 4. Sayer 5.
