Dover Athletic 1
Whitstable Town 1: Town travelled to Dover on the back of a run of poor
results, to produce a magnificent ‘team’ performance against title contenders
Dover with their first point since their three-nil win at home to Chatham on
the 1st of December.
After the poor performance against Sittingbourne on Boxing Day Manager
Marc Seager saying for the first time in his short managerial career he felt
embarrassed by his sides second half display. “We lost two-nil but it could
have been by six or seven we were so poor in the second half. Some harsh words were
exchanged last week and to be fair one or two players who normally have little
to add contributed to the discussion. I told the lads that today’s game was a
‘no pressure game for us’ let Dover worry about us they are a good side, they
look a good bet for the title, just remember they will be more worried about
slipping up against us than we will against them. Give me 100% commitment,
stick to the game plan and we will be ok, I’ve told the lads I’m so proud of
every one of them. Today; they were all eleven of the them, the ‘Men of the
Match’ but; and there is always a but in football what we want is a ‘Dover
performance’ from all the players every week until the end of the season.”
