Picture: Steve Marshall who scored both WTFC goals: Travelling to Eastbourne Town for their Ryman Division One South encounter Whitstable Town introduced new signing Ian Pullman a striker most recently at Faversham Town.
He started alongside veteran Steve Marshall whilst Gary Sayer and Marcos Perona returned after suspension,

The Sussex outfit who have only two wins under their belt looked a far better than their postion suggests and in Liam Baitup have one of the Divisions highest scorers.

It was the home striker who opened the scoring when after a cross from the right he finished in style to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

The Reds fought back with Marshall striking a post and Pullman looking lively on his debut. A chance to equalise was missed when a very fussy referee Mr Meilack spotted a handball only for Marcos Perona to miss the target after sending Greg Nessling the wrong way.

The equaliser did finally arrive on the stroke of half time when Marshall showed all his experience by chipping Nessling from the edge of the area with the ball bouncing over the line to take the teams in level at the break.

Mr Meilack continued to baffle both sides with his decisions in the second half although his assistants didn't help his cause as they seemed to have their minds on last minute Christmas shopping.

After racing on to a through ball Pullman seemed to be brought down in the penalty area only for the referee to wave away all appeals. Five minutes later Eastbourne went in front when Peter Cooper scored.

The hosts then hit the post and also had a good penalty appeal waved away when in the 90th minute the evergreen Marshall superbly beat Nessling to equalise and a draw looked on the cards.

Substitute Stephen Baines was denied by Nessling before in the fifth minute of injury time Town hearts were broken when Luke Denton netted the winner for Eastbourne.
