Picture WTFC manger Marc Seager: Sat 1st December 2007: Attendance 202: Within 20 seconds of the KO visiting keeper John Whitehouse was picking the ball out of his net, Jake Gess scoring Whitstable opener after good work by Danny Tipple, and M.O.M Danny Lawrence.
At the other end ex Chatham keeper, Kevin Fewell was a virtual spectator for most of the fist 45 minutes as Whitstable’s midfield controlled the game. What few chances the visitors did create, were wasted with balls blasted wide by either Andy Constable or Gavin Shultz. Half Time: Whitstable Town 1 Chatham Town 0:
M.O.M Danny Lawrence: scored one and an assist: It only took the home side ten minutes to add to their score, Lawrence slotting home number two with Whitstable now taking a firm grip on the game. The visitor’s substitutes injected some life into their game as they enjoyed a good ten-minute spell when for the first time they threaten Fewell’s goal, without forcing an outright save. The home side then upped their game once more awarded a penalty after the introduction of loan signing from Ebsfleet, John Akinde caused panic in the visitors defence defence, Akinde pulled down inside the area. The big forward stepping up to coolly slot the ball past Whitehouse at 3-0. Fewell was called into action late on, pulling off a spectacular reaction save to deny Chatham’s Danny Smith from point blank range. Whitstable manger Marc Seager, praising his young side after the game; “We should have got something out of the game last week against Kingstonian, losing 3-2, but I told the lads then, just carry that performance into the next game and I shall be pleased. They did all I asked and more, but I must say getting players back from injury makes all the difference. I thought young Danny Lawrence was outstanding today, he joined after playing against us in a pre-season friendly and I saw then he had something, today he showed just what he can do.” Report for by Tony Rouse: K Fewll: G Sayer: L Quinn: S Lloyd: D Tipple: J Gess (1) S Denley: M Perona: (capt) T Parker: D Lawrence: (51) J Neal: Subs: J Akinde: pen (72) (Lawrence) T Martin: (Gess) D Stubbs (J Neal) not used: S Marshall: M Lane: |
