Kent League News...Thamesmead Town, the Kent Football League Premier Division leaders. suffered their first loss of the League campaign on Saturday when they were beaten by Erith & Belvedere at Park View Road, the score four two.
Rikki Cable opened the scoring for the visitors before Sam Prett equalised ten minutes later, the half time score. In the second period, the 'Deres' went three one up with goals, inside a three minute period, from Nick Smith and Matt Johnson. The deficit was reduced when an own goal from Chris Perisismou gave Thamesmead a lifeline but Johnson then added a second right on time, a result which saw the 'Deres' climb to fifth. At Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham Town missed the chance to go top as they were held by Lordswood, the score one apiece. Theo Fairweather-Johnson, the former Croydon man, netted the day's fastest goal after just two minutes for the home side before Buckman levelled on the half hour. Beckenham are now level on points with Thamesmead Town. VCD Athletic consolidated their third place when they defeated Slade Green at Oakwood by the odd goal in five. Gary Cook opened for the home side after just six minutes before own goal from Sean May made it two nil just before the break. Lee Barnett reduced the arrears with a second half penalty before Craig Thomson put through his own net to restore VCD's advantage. John-Paul McKey then scored 'Green's' consolation in the final minute. Erith Town are now the only unbeaten Premier Division side as they beat Greenwich Borough with goals from Mark Tompkins and the prolific Marcus Cassius, a result which moves them up to fourth. Croydon, who stay seventh, came from two goals down when they visited Sevenoaks Town to draw at Greatness Park. Tony Atkins and Luke Piscino put the home side ahead in the first half before Neil John and Ross Cable, recently signed from Beckenham Town, levelled the affair. Deal Town enjoyed their best home win this term as they beat Tunbridge Wells four nil with a Dave Bathgate penalty and further goals from David Cory, Michael Cassar and Mark Pollard, their fifth win of the season. Herne Bay defeated Sporting Bengal United, the bottom side, with goals from Roy Guiver and Aaron Firth at the Mile End Stadium. In the Premier Division Cup Group D, Hythe Town achieved their third win as they beat Holmesdale at Oakley Road three nil with goals from Jason Brazier, Ian Hayes and Mike Smissen |
