Tuesday 27th Sept 2005: On sunday at Hayes Lane Cray made it through to the next round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win against Camberley thanks to two goals apiece from John Maine and Jamie Wood.At Cheriton Road on monday a Simon Glover goal gave Folkestone a 1-0 win against Braintree in the Ryman Premier Division Week ending Sat 23rd Sept: Gravesend & Northfleet went
down to a 2-1 home defeat against Kidderminster in Nationwide Conference with
Charlie MacDonald on target for the Kent side.A good day in the FA Cup for the
counties sides with pride of place going to Tonbridge who won 3-2 at Fisher
with two goals from Jay May and an effort from Ray Powell.Also winning away
were Welling who beat Boreham Wood 2-0 and Folkestone 1-0 at St Margaretsbury
while back in kent Bromley beat Chipstead 2-1 with goals from Nic McDonnell and
Joe Vines and the two thanet sides Margate and Ramsgate both won 1-0 against
Carshalton and Southall.The two clubs going out of the competitions were Dover
who lost 1-0 at Chelmsford and Deal who were beaten 3-1 by Hitchin.In Ryman 1
an improvig Ashford drew 1-1 with Walton Casuals with Joby Thorogood on target
and in the Southern League the kent derby ended in a 1-0 win for Sittingbourne
over Dartford thanks to a Ricky Spiller goal and Chatham beat Potters Bar 3-2
at Maidstone Road.Only two winners in the Kent League this week with Erith
& Belvedere beating Greenwich Borough 3-1 and VCD beating Tunbridge Wells
3-0.Thamesmead and Lordswood remain unbeaten after a 1-1 draw at Bayliss
Avenue.At Reachfields two goals from Richard Sinden helped Hythe to a 3-3 draw
with Erith and Slade Green and Sporting Bengal drew 2-2 at the Small Glen.The
biggest gate in the league saw Whitstable take the lead through Steve Marshall
but visiting Maidstone earnt apoint with a Mario Celaire goal just before half
time.In the Kent County League Premier leaders Stansfeld beat Fleet Leisure 2-1
and an improving Faversham moved up to sixth after beating Bearsted 1-0 at
Salters Lane. |
