Peter Albin looks ahead to this weekends games in the Ryman 1 South Division, including WTFC v Walton Casuals. Whitstable Town travel into south west London to play Walton Casuals on Saturday, the two sides virtually inseparable in the table, both on five points a piece. The Casuals picked up three home points last week against Ashford Town (2-1) which will have lifted their confidence. The Reds have been slow off the mark to find the form they demonstrated out of the blocks last season. A poor showing at Thamesmead in the FA Cup lead to a two week break after their first win at Horsham YMCA, removing any momentum gained, and then to have to face a tough Tooting & Mitcham side was not the best way in which to restart their campaign. So the scene is set for an interesting game in which both sides have great need of a win. Incidentally, only seven games into the season the points span between 19th and 5th is just eight points which demonstrates the evenness amongst the clubs which so typifies this league. See you all you Oysterpeople up there.

Both those clubs will have an eye on Molesey’s trip down to Chipstead, if Chips can find more of the form they showed at the Belmont on Tuesday evening, they could jump ahead in the table. Zero to Hero or what? The Moles have just a point from a 3-3 draw at Eastbourne in their account and will also not be keen to be at the foot for too long. Intriguing contests and so early in the season, the interest level is really great in this league where there now appears to be no ‘whipping boys’.

Tooting & Mitcham are in action again this time at Corinthian-Casuals who have recorded two draws and a loss at home, defeat 3-0 to Whyteleafe last weekend. T&M have yet to lose a game but have failed to open much of a gap at the top, any points dropped will have a significant effect on their lead. They had a close encounter with Leatherhead at Imperial Fields in the week just stealing the points 3-2, that’s the way it is when you are having a run of good fortune.

Ashford Town entertain Horsham YMCA, the home side hit five at Cray Wanderers to run out easy winners. A much needed result as they couldn’t buy a point in recent matches. The YM’s are W1 L6 which tells it’s own story, whether they are suffering from the success of their neighbours in the Premier Division is hard to say, whatever the issues I only foresee more bad news for them on Saturday.

Immediately in Whitstable’s sights are Chatham Town and Croydon Athletic who play each other in Croydon. Chatham have drawn one more than Town and Croydon have won one more, as you can see not a lot to choose between us all. Both sides lost midweek and at the weekend so there’s also not a lot on which to base the outcome, neither are averse to a draw so that’s where I’ll hang my hat, the pundit's one!

Just one point separates Whyteleafe, Burgess Hill Town, Sittingbourne, Cray Wanderers and the Metropolitan Police which makes Leatherhead the odd one out in the final three games to cover. The Tanners are not too far behind, just a win and they are playing at home against Wanderers. Absolutely nothing to call between all of the sides which means the home side may have an ever so slight advantage. That would bode well for the Police and Sittingbourne as they pour the drinks for the visiting fans and players from Whyteleafe and Burgess Hill, both of whom won on Tuesday night unlike both their hosts. Which carries more weight? Home turf or coming off the back of a win? We watch and learn.

Wherever you watch your football, enjoy it to the full!
