From Peter Albin:

August Bank Holiday Fixtures in the Ryman Division One South

A busy four days as everyone in the Ryman South has two games to play over the holiday period. It's been a few seasons since Town have played in a league with a full compliment of 22 sides and the games are coming thick and fast. On Saturday Whitstable Town return to south west London to play Walton and Hersham and then play at the Belmont on Bank Holiday Monday against early leaders Dover Athletic, good weather will guarantee a bumper crowd. Let's all get behind the lads and see if we can't break the Whites stride. Both matches are 3 o'clock kick offs.

The Swans are finding their feet having dropped out the Isthmian Premier this year, and have had a mixed start, winning at Chipstead on the opening day and then losing at home to Tooting & Mitcham Tuesday last. Whitstable also have had an indifferent start, although matching the opposition for most of the playing time a couple of mistakes have cost them dearly. Players having to play out of their usual positions due to injuries may be at fault, that said I can count the mistakes on the fingers of one hand and we have to consider ourselves unlucky. The squad should be back to near full strength this weekend. As I write Dover are on six points from two games and looking in good form, they entertain Leatherhead at the Crabble on Saturday, a game which the home side won last season by two goals to one. Leatherhead then face our other opponents Walton and Hersham at Leatherheads Fetcham Grove ground on Monday. To say the league was close last year is an understatement, the winners, Maidstone United, won just 23 games out of 42 fixtures and everyone lower than fifth won less than 50% of their fixtures. So there's a long way to go for all involved this year, far too soon to be making any predictions.

Also with one hundred per cent records after two games are Kingstonian and our near neighbours Sittingbourne. The K's are at home to Horsham YMCA on Saturday and away at Tooting & Mitcham on Monday, while the Brickies are at home to Walton Casuals the weekend and in a local derby at Ashford on holiday Monday. Kingstonian already look favourites to beat the YM's who still wait to break their duck having lost to Dulwich and Dover. The trip to Tooting will be a much tougher assignment for them the Terrors having been runners-up last year. Walton Casuals have just a pair of drawn results to show so far, but did score twice in each encounter another brace should ensure at least a draw at Bourne Park. As for the derby? Anything goes, Ashford won at Chatham on Tuesday and could easily dent Sittingbourne's form, but anything can happen in these hotly contested matches.

Ashford are away at Whyteleafe on Saturday, a trip that they took a point from last season, they steal all three this year as Leafe have had a poor couple of openers, losing at Cray and drawing at Walton Casuals. Tooting & Mitcham meanwhile will be at the Maidstone Road sports ground playing Chatham who also have just one point on the board. T & M should be favourites but home advantage could carry the day for the Chats. Chatham and Whyteleafe are then both away from home on Monday, at Chipstead and Molesey respectively. New boys Chipstead have yet to win a point losing to Walton & Hersham and Burgess Hill Town which makes Chatham favourite in my book. Molesey have just the one point from a three all draw at Eastbourne Town and should do better against Leafe than they did against Croydon Athletic in their opening game of the campaign, three points to the home side.

Five other fixtures on Saturday, Met. Police entertain Chipstead, Cray Wanderers play at Croydon Athletic, Molesey travel south to Burgess Hill Town, Worthing take a trip north up to the smoke to face Dulwich Hamlet and Corinthian-Casuals travel in the opposite direction down to Eastbourne Town. Weather seems set fair for the coast bound sides who will enjoy their days at the seaside, taking all the points I fancy. The three other matches inside the M25 will likely turn out home wins.

On Monday Croydon Athletic could complete a six point weekend harvest at Corinthian-Casuals, the Casuals have found the net just once while the rams have struck five times in two outings. A repeat of last season's 4-0 home win seems unlikely at best. Dulwich Hamlet pop across town to Cray Wanderers for a cracking fixture which produced seven goals last term, the home side just nicking the result by the odd goal.

There's another very local derby when the Metropolitan Police play Walton Casuals, and all Sussex afairs when Eastbourne Town travel to Horsham YMCA and Worthing entertain Burgess Hill Town. All no doubt good games to get to if you are in the vicinity.

Good luck to everyone involved this holiday weekend and…

Wherever you watch your football, enjoy it to the full!
