Mark Wyver reporting from the Belmont: Jon Neal is fast becoming a Belmont hero after he scored his second goal in consecutive games as Whitstable Town took on the much fancied Dover Athletic on Bank Holiday monday. The home side saw Danny Tipple make his first league start after signing from Greenwich Borough while Stuart King returned to the front line. The deadlock was broken however when that man Neal struck a sweet shot from twenty yards out which goalkeeper Dean Ruddy maybe should have done better with as the ball hit the back of the net. Dover continued to have the lions share of the play but as Marc Seager stated afterwards the centre back partnership of Josh Maine and Steven Lloyd were immense while behind them Kevin Fewell looked assured. The second half was only a minute old when Dover struck the equaliser. A cross from Collin was headed home by Jimmy Dryden with the Town defenders still in the changing rooms. Instead of letting their heads drop Whitstable continued to battle away at the supposedly superior Dover side and were rewarded on the hour mark as Ruddy in the Dover goal failed to hold a cross from the left which left Sam Denly the opportunity to put the Oysternen back in front. The end to end game was levelled again just seven minutes later when John Keister crossed the ball into the box where Collin who was Dover's best player finished to tie the game at 2-2. Marcos Perona and Clint Gooding continued to inspire their teammates while Dover always looked threatening when they went forward. A crowd of 1,002 saw an entertaining 2-2 draw which many of the loyal Whitstable supporters surely would have taken before the game.
