Ebsleet 'master class' PDF Print E-mail

Mark Wyver reports as Ebsleet 'master class' wows the fans...Whitstable Town continued their Pre Season programme on Thursday night when they welcomed Blue Square Premier side Ebbsfleet United to Belmont Road.

The visitors included former Reds loanees Sam Mott and John Akinde in their starting line up. It took The Fleet just two minutes to break the deadlock when a cross from former Wales Under 21 midfielder Danny Slatter was finished off by Chris MPhee who gave Kevin Fewell no chance.

Young Whitstable striker Stuart King had his sides best chance when on 25 minutes a shot from outside the area was tipped round the post by Mott in the visitors goal.

On the half hour mark The Fleet extended their lead when McPhee crossed for young Danny Stubbs to finish comfortably. A minute later the impressive George Purcell hit number three from a free kick which seemed to catch Fewell unaware.

The Reds tightened up after the break and battled well against their more illustrious opponents with Andy Constable working hard up front. They could have reduced the arrears only for a Fleet defender to clear off the line.

The scoring was completed when Luke Coleman converted yet another cross to give Marc Seager more to think about as the season draws ever nearer.
