Whitstable Town travelled to Ryman Premier Division side Ramsgate for their second Pre Season game of the 2007/8 season. Marc Seager took a squad of seventeen to Southwood including four new signings and a trailist.

In a physical encounter the Town lost full back Gary Sayer with a knee injury after a crunching tackle after only ten minutes to be replaced by Jake Gess.

With new signing Jon Neal leading the front line alongside Steve Marshall they both worked hard for the cause. It was Marshall who almost gave Town the lead when his superb 20 yard drive was superby tipped over the crossbar by Danny Tywman in the Rams goal. Marshall also tried a first time lob which failed to test Twyman and sailed wide of the post.

It took Jimmy Ward's Ramsgate just five minutes of the second half to break the deadlock when a Warren Schultz corner found its way to Nick Davis who headed past Kevin Fewell. The home side then started to get on top but had to wait until the 79th minute to extend their lead.

Last seasons top scorer Shaun Welford crossed from the right hand side and Michael Phillips connected perfectly to direct the ball into the top corner. Whitstable never gave up and with Danny Tipple looking lively down the left flank it was from a build up involving the left back and Tom Parker that Town found the net. After Twyman had made a great reaction save it was left to Marshall to put the ball into the net. The linesman ruled out the effort however for offside.

It was former Whitstable defender Dan Tanner who sealed a 3-0 win for Ramsgate when despite clattering into Fewell his effort was allowed to stand. A good work out for both sides in their quest for Ryman League success this season.
